ABOUT US

Driven by a desire to convey stories, we create concerts and performances that leave lasting emotional traces in the audience. We collaborate with composers, writers, directors, and soloists to find new perspectives in our sonic narratives. Together we make productions that concern the people of today.

We are not interested in conventions related to contemporary art, performance practices, or concert traditions. Uncompromisingly, we produce performances that will convey audio messages based on the stories and partners we choose. Through collaboration with author Kjartan Fløgstad, countertenor Sean Bell, organist Anders Eidsten Dahl, actor, and vocalist Ivar Nergaard, and mezzo-soprano Tora Augestad, we have created an expression that goes far beyond the usual sound of brass instruments.

In a short time (et. 2015), through our cross-genre projects, we have premiered as many as 22 works by Nils Henrik Asheim, Per Arne Glorvigen, Erlend Skomsvoll, Therese Ulvo, Marcus Paus, and Ørjan Matre, at festivals such as Only Connect, Brass Wind, Bergen Kirkeautunnale, Stavanger Organ Festival and Literature Days in Vinje. The ensemble has also held master classes at the Academy of Music in Tallinn and arranged workshops with young composers. NyNorsk brass quintet is about to release a record with compositions by Nils Henrik Asheim, produced by Lawo.
